A small coastal village edged by sea stacks and sheltered bays, much loved by climbers and rock-poolers.

Local walks
The routes worth knowing — from a flat riverside hour to the glen behind the town.
The riverside path, Cummingston
An easy hour along the water from the centre of Cummingston — flat, pram-friendly, and quiet by mid-morning. The light is best an hour after sunrise.
The glen & waterfall loop
A steeper woodland circuit up into the glen, finishing at a hidden fall that runs gold after rain. Boots in winter; worth it in any season.
By the water
Beaches & coast
Where the firth meets the sand — and the dolphins put on a show.
The east sands
A long, clean stretch east of Cummingston — rock pools at the far end, dunes behind, and dolphins offshore on a calm day. Big enough to feel like your own.
Coastal path to the next village
Follow the cliff path along the firth past old salmon bothies and sea caves. Benches at every viewpoint; an ice cream at the other end.
